ADEC
from 1989
1. Faith and Justice
This new and exciting project is
tackling racial justice and aims to encourage a better understanding
both of and between different World Faiths.
Today most schools have more than one
faith community represented in each class. They know about challenges
that can arise, especially in a time where Faith is often associated
with intolerance, violence and racism.
So, there are good reasons to
overcome prejudices and encourage the understanding of differences and
similarities between World Faiths - while covering a wide range of
requirements of the National Curriculum within Citizenship, RE, PSHE
and others…
Would
you be interested in faith representatives visiting your school to work
with classes or to take assemblies, based on shared global values like
respect, tolerance, peace and non-violence within the different World
Faiths?
We are developing a network of trained local faith
representatives, for you to contact.
This is your chance to find out more about this project.

Incorporating
Local Agenda 21 Issues in the Teaching Programmes of Secondary Special
Schools:
This project aims to work with special schools on ensuring that
Sustainable
Development & Global Citizenship are part of the school
curriculum.
The focus will be on both classroom learning and whole school practices
(e.g.. composting).

4.
Out of the Bin and Across the Secondary Curriculum
This project was supported by Environmental Body
Buckinghamshire
Ltd. With donations from Shanks via the Landfill Tax Credit Scheme. It
was carried out between May 2000 and December 2002. It aimed to
increase
the long term understanding of waste minimisation issues and
participation
in Local Agenda 21 activities and other schemes amongst young people in
Aylesbury Vale. ADEC's Education worker researched areas of the
secondary
curriculum and provided ideas for teachers on how to include waste
minimisation
issues in all subject areas, facilitate the use of these ideas in
classrooms
in Aylesbury Vale, and broaden understanding of local and global
development
issues of waste minimisation (such as Agenda 21) by introducing case
studies
of similar issues and schemes from across the world.

Anti Racist Training and Resources for Schools and Youth Groups in
Bucks
Free practical training for teachers and youth group leaders was made
available through this project. ADEC has trained and funded a
variety
of local trainers to provide a limited number of free workshops.
Workshops addressed ways of dealing with racist incidents and explored
options for tackling racism and promoting equality on a day-to-day
basis.
ADEC has numerous resources to support anti-racist work in schools
and
youth groups including activity packs, videos, posters, website support
and details of visiting speakers. A list of these resources is
available
on request.
